Skincare for mature skin
Your skin now simply needs different care than it did in your mid-20s. It becomes more demanding, and its needs change. With age, the skin becomes thinner and finer, and while blemishes become increasingly rare, fine lines and wrinkles unfortunately start to form. Besides treatments with botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid injections, there is also a range of cosmetic products that you can use in a very targeted way for an anti-aging effect. You should now give your skin what it can no longer produce itself – and that's lipids and moisture.
Your skin's basic appearance is genetically determined, but it can be decisively influenced by suitable cosmetic products, a consistent and sensible skincare routine, diet and lifestyle. You can't stop the aging process, but you can improve your skin's appearance and effectively counteract the formation of wrinkles and dry patches.
As a skincare routine for mature skin, we recommend mild cleansing, for example with a gentle foam or a lipid-replenishing product, as well as regular cleansing with a product that contains glycolic acid (a fruit acid). This way, you can cleanse your skin and gently exfoliate it at the same time. Afterwards, use an (alcohol-free!) toner to restore your skin's pH. In addition to serums with hyaluronic acid for pure moisture, we also recommend serums with highly concentrated vitamins (e.g., vitamin C or E) that contain antioxidants, capture free radicals and thus prevent skin aging. Rich creams protect against drying out and keep the skin supple. We can also recommend creams with ceramides, which supply the skin with nutrients all day long. You should avoid harsh peels, as mature skin is thinner and has only a thin outermost layer of skin (stratum corneum), which is why we recommend mild fruit acid peels (AHA peels).
In the morning, you should use all-round antioxidant protection, and in the evening a restorative product (e.g., with resveratrol) that can work overnight and conjures up a beautiful complexion, like 8 hours of beauty sleep. Add an eye care product with an anti-aging effect too, because the skin around the eyes is particularly delicate and often also particularly dry. This is also where those unwelcome crow's feet form, which can be treated by a physician if they are more pronounced.
You should also get into the habit of using sun protection consistently and every day (even in winter!), because UV radiation also makes our skin age. Check out our blog post on sun protection! By the way: if you drink at least two liters a day, your skin will look plumper too.
